The Community Arts Partnerships (CAP) program, of the College for Creative Studies (CCS), collaborates with Detroit community organizations to create art and design education, experiences, and resources for local youth and families in support of individual and community development.

CAP receives general operating support in part from the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation, Kellogg Foundation, Kresge Foundation, Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, and many others.

Community Arts Partnerships would like to thank all the parents, students, friends and family for coming out to the 2012 Reflections Exhibition at the Matrix Center! It was a great success. The event started off with everyone viewing the amazing artwork by students in Detroit Neighborhood Arts Corps (DNAC), Detroit Neighborhood Arts Workshops (DNAW) and Pewabic Pottery.

Afterward, the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit performed a Romeo and Juliet skit; the Detroit Children’s Choir sang; Heritage Works performed a few songs on drums and the Detroit Neighborhood Arts Workshops Animation class presented their animation videos that they created throughout the 2011-2012 year. There was food, music, screen printing demos by DNAC and everyone had the opportunity to create their own buttons with help of DNAC students!

We hope everyone has a great summer and keep in mind that our summer arts classes for DNAC (high school students) and DNAW (middle school students) begin July 9th! For more information you can contact Mr. Larry Lunsford at (313) 664-1550.

CAP archives all of its photos on Flickr, a photo sharing site that will allow us to organize photos every week by program (DNAW-EAST, DNAW-WEST, DNAC and Brightmoor). This will allow you to easily share images with friends and family, through email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. and you can download the images for yourself as well!
