Doodles for the Week!

We didn’t place a doodle up on our blog last week so decided to post two this week! Check out the cool characters drawn by high school students apart of the Detroit Neighborhood Arts Corps (DNAC) program.

Community Arts Partnerships would like to thank all the parents, students, friends and family for coming out to the 2012 Reflections Exhibition at the Matrix Center! It was a great success. The event started off with everyone viewing the amazing artwork by students in Detroit Neighborhood Arts Corps (DNAC), Detroit Neighborhood Arts Workshops (DNAW) and Pewabic Pottery.

Afterward, the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit performed a Romeo and Juliet skit; the Detroit Children’s Choir sang; Heritage Works performed a few songs on drums and the Detroit Neighborhood Arts Workshops Animation class presented their animation videos that they created throughout the 2011-2012 year. There was food, music, screen printing demos by DNAC and everyone had the opportunity to create their own buttons with help of DNAC students!

We hope everyone has a great summer and keep in mind that our summer arts classes for DNAC (high school students) and DNAW (middle school students) begin July 9th! For more information you can contact Mr. Larry Lunsford at (313) 664-1550.

Please join us at Matrix Human Services (13560 McNichols, Detroit) on Saturday, June 2nd from 9:30am-12:30pm to celebrate some of our programs & partnerships.

We hope to see you there!
