Calling all young artists! DNAC, DNAW and the Brightmoor Community Center have art and design summer classes available! There is no cost to participate.

  • DNAC (high school program) at the College for Creative Studies Taubman Center: 460 West Baltimore. July 9-26, M-Th, 10am-4pm
  • DNAW (middle school program) at the Redford Branch, Detroit Public Library: McNichols & Grand River. July 9-19, M-Th, 10am-4pm
  • Brightmoor Community Center (elementary and middle school program). July 9-August 16, M-Th, 1pm-3pm

DNAW West students are working on their animation projects. Sketches were drawn up in the beginning stages and now students are building armatures and using clay to create their character models; the backgrounds for the characters are also being created with cardboard, wood and paint.

Calling all young artists! DNAC, DNAW East and West and the Brightmoor Community Center have spaces available in their programs. Walk-ins are welcomed!

  • DNAC- Saturdays at the CCS Taubman Center from 1-5pm. Students are learning traditional and digital printmaking techniques and building a collection of prints!
  • DNAW East- Saturdays at the Matrix from 2-4:30pm. Students are exploring the mosaic process and materials! Collage materials such as colorful glass pieces were used to create nature-themed mosaic pieces. Students have also started weaving projects!
  • DNAW West- Saturdays at the Redford Branch Library 10:30-1pm. Students are using a variety of mediums to establish the art of storytelling through animation!
  • Brightmoor Community Center- Mon. and Thurs. Students are creating designs that incorporate 3D elements inspired by sculptural glass art!
