The Community Arts Partnerships (CAP) program, of the College for Creative Studies (CCS), collaborates with Detroit community organizations to create art and design education, experiences, and resources for local youth and families in support of individual and community development.

CAP receives general operating support in part from the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation, Kellogg Foundation, Kresge Foundation, Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, and many others.

DNAC students working on hand sculptures

Our students over at Earthart just had a little exhibition showcasing their work for the Future Detroit project! They’ve been working with a variety of mediums from sketching out their design, to wire building and painting their environments for the whole set-up!

We had a great time at the Matrix Halloween Party last night! CAP Faculty assisted children in the making of Halloween masks in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the evening.

This class’s approach is to have each student build their downtown “block” and the final blocks will be assembled together to complete the Future Detroit. (The blocks are pizza boxes that house the components of the projects in progress and will serve as the ground once students are ready to assemble.)
